How can I download e-books?

Answer

You can read e-books in the Dawsons E-book Collection and E-book Central within your internet browser by clicking the Read Online button. But you can also download e-books for a limited period of time.

You need to use Adobe Digital Editions to read downloaded e-books. You can download this software for free from this page on the Adobe website:

https://www.adobe.com/uk/solutions/ebook/digital-editions/download.html

If you need help with downloading this software, take a look at this guide.

Once you have downloaded Adobe Digital Editions, you will need to authorise your device. If you need help with this, take a look at this Youtube video or this guide.

Dawsons E-book Collection

You can download a book for a maximum of 7 days.

If you use an Android device, download Bluefire Reader from Google Play. When you try to download an e-book from Dawsons, you will see the option to read it in Bluefire from the ‘Select Reader’ drop-down menu.

You can also read downloaded books using the Kortext reader. When you select the download option in Dawsons, follow the download Kortext link and click the 'Signup' button to create a personal account with Kortext. Once you have done this, Kortext will appear in the ‘Select Reader’ drop-down menu when you download e-books.

E-book Central

You can find out how long you can view a downloaded book on the book’s page in E-book Central.

You can also download a limited number of individual chapters, which do not expire. You can do this with any PDF viewing software, such as Adobe Acrobat Reader, which you can download for free here: https://get.adobe.com/uk/reader/
